Mildred Alafair Yehling Hill

	Mildred Alafair Yehling Hill, 101, of Jacksonville died Friday, April 2, 2004 at Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville.
	She was born Sept. 21, 1902 in DuQuoin, Ill., the daughter of John William and Emma Knight Yehling. She married Dr. Edward L. Hill Jr. on Sept. 17, 1928 in Chicago and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1944. 
	She is survived by one son, John G. (wife Dolores) Hill of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Janet Hill, Debbie Powers, Edward L. Hill IV, Diane Kriescher, Michael Hill and Celeste K. Hill; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward L. Hill III; a sister, Clara Bell Yehling; and a brother, John William Yehling.
	Mildred was educated in the DuQuoin, Illinois public schools and received a Bachelor's degree in French from Illinois College in 1924. While in college she was a member of Gamma Delta literary society. Her Alma Mater has been dear to her for the past eighty years.
	Mildred was employed as a Social Worker at Jacksonville State Hospital from September 1944 until her retirement in February 1972. She very much enjoyed working with people.
	She was a member of the American Association of University Women and a charter member of the Jacksonville Pilot Club. She was a past president of Pilot Club and was very active in its tree planting program.
	Graveside services were held 1 p.m. Saturday at IOOF Cemetery in DuQuoin. Friends called after noon Friday at Cody & Son Memorial home in Jacksonville, where family met friends 5-7 p.m. Memorials were suggested to The Jacksonville Symphony Society or to Illinois College.
